Opening of the Club

With effect from today, 1st of June, the bowls club is open – subject to the following:

The Clubhouse is NOT open.  Therefore there will be no access to the toilet or for drinks.

All the bowling equipment is in the shed/garage store.

There is a book in the store which details the rules which MUST be adhered to if you use the green.  You must sign the accompanying sheet before you bowl to indicate you have read and understood the rules.

If you are bowling with members of your own household only, you are not required to remain 2 metres (6 feet) apart.

If you are bowling with others NOT from your household you must maintain social distancing at all times (2 metres / 6 feet).

There must be a free rink between occupied rinks at all times.

Sanitising gel / wipes are available in the store.  Please use them before and after bowling.  Please do your best to clean any club equipment you use.

You may wish to remember to take a drink with you during this hot weather.  Please take all your rubbish home for disposal.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Bowl safely everyone.

Coronavirus – update

In light of the guidance issued by Bowls England regarding measures that would have to be put in place to ensure members’ safety, and which would be impractical,  it has been decided that the club will have no option but to remain closed for bowling until further notice.

Stay safe everyone, until we can all meet up again.

Coronavirus – a message from the Club Secretary

Dear Member,

It has been decided to postpone the Pre-Season meeting scheduled for 30th March 2020 due to the continuing situation around Corona Virus in the UK.

The indoor bowls event at Selby indoor bowls club on 29th March 2020 has also been cancelled.

At this time we do not have any further information on the Goole League for 2020 or potential green opening date.

I will endeavour to keep you updated on the situation as more information becomes clear.

Please keep safe, look after yourselves and follow the latest government advice.

Best wishes,
Greg Stephenson
Club Secretary

On behalf of Marian…

It is with great sadness that we have to notify members that Marian Frank’s mother passed away on the 2nd of January.

For anyone wishing to pay their last respects her funeral will be held at 12.30pm on Friday 24th January at Hemingbrough Church.  There will be refreshments in the Chapel afterwards.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Marian, and her family and friends, at this sad time.

Sad News

It is with a heavy heart that we must pass on the sad news that long standing club member John Harrison has passed away. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this sad time. John will be missed by all who knew him.   R.I.P.

Two Saturdays!

This Saturday, 7th September, will see the juniors compete for the Graham Sweeting Cup.  Bowling starts at 11am and I’m sure they would appreciate spectator support.

Next Saturday, 14 September, will be Aussie Rules bowling organised once again by Greg.  This event replaces the usual end of season Hustle.  It is an open event so bring along friends and family along with another other bowling friends.  £3 includes bowling, refreshments and raffle.  This will be your last opportunity to bowl outdoors on our green until it reopens next April.
