Collection of Prizes

We are now collecting Raffle and Tombola prizes for this year’s Whistlestop; we’d like to have in excess of 200 Tombola prizes if possible.

Please let Brenda have Tombola Prizes, and Marian the Raffle prizes.

Club Polo Shirts

A sample shirt has been obtained so that members can see the quality of both the material and the printing – the material is good quality and the printing clear and bright.

It will be taken to the club on Captain’s Day and again on Thursday evening for the roll up.  After that it needs to be returned to the supplier.

Hopefully we will then be in a position to (finally) order the shirts for those who have added their names to the list.

Prizes for 1st and 2nd Lady, 1st and Second Gentleman, and a Booby Prize.

Also a “Spot the Jack” Competition with a mystery prize.

Catering is “Bring and Share” so all contributions very welcome, as are raffle prize donations.

Audit of Club-Owned Bowls

An audit of the club bowls has just been completed and  most of the club bowls have been accounted for.  However, we seem to have lost some and gained others.  In addition, a game of musical woods seems to have taken place since the bowls were last sorted checked, with the wrong bowls in the wrong boxes/bags and in the wrong place on the shelves.

The shelves have colour-coded labels on them which match with those on the sets of bowls with regard to size.

The boxes/bags will have their old labels replaced with ones which are easier to read.  Unfortunately we have limited space to do likewise on the shelves.

If you use any of the club bowls would you please make sure they go back in their correct box or bag, and that they are put back in the correct place on the shelves.

If anyone arranges to buy or swap any club bowls, or if any are donated to the club, could they please liaise with a member of the management committee so that the master list (and the shelf and box labels) can be kept up to date.

Captain’s Day
Sunday 2nd July 2017
Coffee at 10.30, Draw and Bowling at 11.00am

This is a new event on the club calendar which will hopefully become a regular annual feature.

It is an “open” competition with prizes for 1st and 2nd places (Lady and Gentleman) and booby prizes.  Please spread the invitations around your bowling friends and acquaintances from other clubs.  The format of the competition will be slightly different so come along and have some fun.

As this is designed to be a club fundraiser we need a good turnout.  Catering will be on a “bring and share” basis, so donations of a few sandwiches, snack items, biscuits, cakes, etc. would be much appreciated, as would donations of raffle prizes.  There will also be a “Spot the Jack” competition.

Arrival time is 10.30 am in time for a cuppa before bowling starts at 11.00am.  We aim to finish by approximately 3.00pm with a break for refreshments midway through.

Entry Fee is £3 per person.
